An introduction to the history and techniques of plait making for the straw hat industry. During this course you will
learn a little of the history of plait making for the straw hat industry and visit the museum’s Leagrave Cottage lived in
by a straw plait making family in the 19th century.
You will learn how to prepare the heritage long wheat straw that will be used during the day, learn various plait
techniques and make several lengths of plait to take home.
