The Craftsman Award

If you are a member of Straw Craftsmen you can put your work forward to be assessed for the Craftsman Award. The award is something to work towards and a high standard of workmanship is expected. To gain the award your work would be assessed by experienced members of Straw Craftsmen. Members can find out more about the Award on the Members page of the website.

Anne Pounds had been working on her pieces for the Craftsmen Award and at Straw in the North 2023 put her collection forward for assessment. Anne made and displayed beautifully, 10 different plaits ranging from a 4 straw picot to a 7 straw spiral.

A Welsh Fan, traditional neck and a lantern were also made.

Anne’s own choice was a wonderful Marches fan, a complex and multi plait piece. Her work was judged to be neat and precise, being overall of an excellent standard.

Anne was presented with her Craftsman Award by Straw Craftsmen Chairman Ted Beeson.

Congratulations to Anne for achieving the Straw Craftsmen Award.
